Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

My first attempt at chocolate chip cookie dough.  They turned out soooo good!!  I thought the dough was going to be runny but that wasnt the case at all, when they cooled it firmed up so it wasnt as though you eating melted runny dough.  Enjoy!!

Monday, June 20, 2011

I co-hosted a baby shower and decided to do a mixture of cake pops w strawberry (per the mommy-to-be's request and they featured real strawberries) with a vanilla almond buttercream.  They came out well and the mommy-to-be really liked them!

Carrot cake.  I used the basic Paula Deen recipe but made a few of my own adjustments.  I also made my own cream cheese buttercream.  These were fabuuuuulous!!

Assorted mix of chocolate chocolate chip w a vanilla buttercream topped w a chocolate chip, carrot cake topped w a cream cheese buttercream and garnished w finely chopped walnuts, and chocolate whiskey and beer cupcake topped an Irish Cream buttercream and garnished w a dark chocolate covered espresso bean....oh soooooo delicious!

Just wanted to share

I wrote the linked article below for the military spouse newsletter.  I was so happy to share my personal story and experience being a military spouse and my quest to obtain a portable career.  Because of the demands of military life and how often we move, many spouses have a hard time keeping consistent careers.  There has been a push in recent years to encourage military spouses to seek portable careers.  Thanks for viewing!

As featured on, The Cupcake Blog.

I wanted to create a man-friendly cupcake in honor of Fathers Day.  I chose to bake a chocolate whiskey and beer cupcake.  The recipe was adapted from the smitten kitchen.  It got rave reviews!!
                                         These were the featured beverages...
These were the base ingredients. The cake has Guinness.
There is a chocolate Irish whiskey ganache filling.
The buttercream has Carolans Irish Cream.  I topped it with a dark chocolate covered espresso bean.
This is definitely for an adult's sophisticated palate.  Enjoy!!

Catching up...

We spent most of the day shopping for my cupcake supplies.  My husband has been so great with supporting me in my new venture, a girl couldnt ask for anything more.  Aaron drove me (and the kids) around Palm Springs and Palm Desert.  I have to say that I have fallen in l-o-v-e with Trader Joes and World Market.  We have lived here almost a year and why it has taken me so long to check out Trader Joes is beyond me.  I am a total East Coast girl, I was born and raised in Lansing, MI.  So unfortunately we dont have a Trader Joes.  World Market is available but just never in the areas where we have lived.  They both have a pretty good beer and wine selection so my husband doesnt mind the trade off of allowing me to look around the store, while he looks at their beer and wine.  I am also all about using quality, organic, and all natural ingredients, and they have a great selection.  I continue to get lots of inspiration.   If anyone knows of any specialty stores in Southern California, please let me know.  I am always looking for ideas.

In honor of Fathers Day, I am going to make a few "man-friendly" cupcakes.  I have chosen to make a chocolate beer/whiskey cupcake, a red velvet, and a black bottom cupcake.  Cannot wait to try them out and post pics!

Thanks for visiting!  Have a fabulous weekend!!

YAYYY!!!  It's summer!!
Last night, my husband and I attended a Hail and Farewell for the battalion.  For those that dont know, a Hail and Farewell is a military tradition to welcome newcomers (hence the Hail) and say good-bye to those moving on (hence the Farewell).  Sometimes spouses are included and get to share in the camaraderie, as was the case last night.  It was a potluck so of course being a cupcake girl, I wouldnt think of bringing anything other than cupcakes.  I did not come home with any and oooh that makes me soooo happy!!  It was a great night!

My 3-year-old Analise had an "All about Olivia" themed birthday party.  We (my husband and I) created an Olivia cupcake tier...it was easy but a little time consuming.  She absolutely adored it!  I made a strawberry cupcake with strawberry buttercream.  It was a pretty hectic day and I forgot to take a pic of the tier full...oops.

Happy Birthday Cupcakes!
Cookie n cream, a yellow/red tinted buttercream, chocolate buttercreams.
Adorned with large rainbow drops and red fondant letters.
So I wanted to share with  you some of the ingredients I used to make carrot cake cupcakes.  My goal is to use all natural and only the best quality ingredients.   You can check out the link below for the recipe.
